Vote for America, not a party

To the editor:

The op-ed piece by Gary Rust was to tell us the reasons to re-elect Sen. Jim Talent. The only reason I saw in the piece was that Rust thinks Talent is a good guy. My reason for wanting to fire Talent can be checked out at any time by going online and looking at his voting record. Talent has:

1. Voted against the government negotiating bulk purchase of drugs for Medicare.

2. Voted 23 times to cut veterans' benefits even during a war.

3. Voted to keep subsidies and tax breaks for companies moving jobs overseas.

4. Voted to remove the clause of separation of church and state from the Constitution.

5. Voted against body armor for the troops.

6. Missed over 60 percent of the Senate Armed Services Committee hearings, even though he voted for the war.

7. Repeatedly said he still believes weapons of mass destruction will be found.

8. Voted with the administration 94 percent of the time and 100 percent of the time on energy.

9. Voted against allowing more time for seniors to pick a drug plan.

10. Voted against removing corporate loopholes to fund a better education system.

These are only a few of the reasons for not re-electing Talent. I hope you get informed and vote for America and not for a party.
