Cleaning up after derailment
Monday, October 23, 2006
A bulldozer worked Sunday to remove some of the large piles of dirt that accrued when a train derailed midmorning Saturday, causing about eight cars to land in a farmer's field along Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. No injuries were reported. According to Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff Gary Stolzer, it is still unclear what caused the train derailment that left the two front engines remaining on the tracks. Stolzer said no hazardous materials leaked from the cars but warned the public it could take a couple of weeks before the area is cleaned up.
