JONESBORO, Ill. -- An Anna, Ill., businessman was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay at least $2,000 in restitution to clients he deceived.
Union County Judge Rodney Clutts sentenced Lowell Crawford to 30 months probation and fined $1,300 for felony home repair fraud, deceptive practices and theft.
Crawford owned and operated a local home repair business, named Dr. Doo-A-Lot, and was convicted of using fraud and deceit against his clients, a release from the Union County state's attorney's office stated.
"The State's Attorney's office will continue to prosecute those who would prey upon our business community as well as our elderly population with theft and deceptive practices," Union County State's Attorney Allen W. James said in the release.
In addition to probation and fine, Crawford was ordered to pay $1,400 in restitution to Davis Heating and Cooling of Cobden, Ill., and $832.05 to Southern Rentals of Anna for deceptive practices, the release stated.
Restitution hearings for an Anna family who fell victim to Crawford's home repair fraud and for the Southern Rentals owner, the theft victim, were forthcoming.
