PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Arthur James Thompson, 84, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1922, in South Dakota, son of Edward and Elizabeth Miederhoff Thompson. He and Marjorie Jones were married June 15, 1957.
Thompson was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the Naval Reserve.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Walter Thompson of Perryville, Michael Thompson of New York; six daughters, Audrey Roth of Old Appleton, Mo., Rachel Thomas of Pocahontas, Eva Morgan of Metamora, Ohio, Dianah DeGato of Charles Town, W.Va., Michelle Waller of Perryville, Ellen Thompson of New Jersey; two sisters, Rita Grass of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Wilma Pasternak of Clayton, Mo.; a brother, Richard Thompson of Breckenridge, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kingdom Hall in Perryville. Richard Chandler will officiate.
