Redhawks volleyball falls to UT-Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. -- The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team fell to .500 in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 30-20, 25-30, 30-25, 30-26 loss Saturday to the Skyhawks.
The teams entered the match tied in the OVC standings. The Redhawks now are 4-4 in OVC play and 10-12 overall. Tennessee-Martin improved to 5-3 in the OVC and 16-6 overall.
Jessica Koeper led the hitting attack with 14 kills. No other Redhawks player had more than eight kills, and Southeast finished with 45 hitting errors compared to just 55 kills.
Alyssa Aston led Southeast with 19 assists. Molly Davis had 22 digs for the Redhawks.
Taylor Noland led a balanced Skyhawks attack with 14 kills.
The Redhawks return home next week for a pair of OVC matches. Southeast will host Jacksonville State on Friday and Samford on Saturday.
Cross country results
The Southeast women's cross country team placed third out of 11 teams at the Evansville Invitational on Saturday.
Belmont won the meet with 49 points, followed by Creighton (70) and Southeast (80). Ohio Valley Conference squads Murray State, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee-Martin also were in the field.
Juli Koenegstein had the top Redhawks finish in fourth. Brittni Peck was 12th, Stephanie Harres was 17th and Central graduate Linnea Woldtvedt finished 21st.
Southeast's men finished eighth out of 15 teams at the 2006 Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State.
Kevin McNab finished 17th out of 222 runners to lead the Redhawks.
Harvard topped the team standings with 61 points. Southeast had 185 points.
