The following information was released by the office of federal prosecutor Catherine Hanaway for defendants who appeared in federal court Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey:
Name: Arthur Kemp
Residence: Kennett, Mo.
Charge: Three counts of unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine.
Sentence: 60 months in prison.
Details: In May 2005, Kemp diverted 38,000 30-milligram pseudoephedrine pills that were later sold to a person who converted them into methamphetamine.
Name: Dion M. Coates
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Two counts of distribution of 5 grams or more of cocaine base.
Sentence range: Up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine.
Details: Coates admitted that on March 12 and 14, 2005, he sold 22.6 grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant for a total of $900. Sentencing was set for Jan. 8.
