John G. Hohler, 68, of Jackson, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at his residence in Jackson.
He was born April 12, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry W. and Gladys Herbst Hohler. He and Glenna Buchholtz were married on May 31, 1985, and she survives at the home.
Mr. Hohler was a type setter at the Southeast Missourian for 23 years. He attended St. Mary's grade school and Notre Dame High School. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. He was a past member of the Elks and an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing.
Survivors include one son Greg Hohler and wife, Cindy, of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Jane Hohler, Renee Bennett and Michelle Hengst and husband, Greg, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Joe Hohler and wife, Dorothy, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five sisters, Rosemary Allgood of Cape Girardeau; Barbara Ann Hamiliton of St. Louis, Ann Moyers of Springfield, Mo., Becky Rusin and husband, Wiley, of Springfield, Mo. and Dolores Dowling and husband, Paul, of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jay Piper; a brother, Gene Hohler and a sister, Judy Miller.
Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dane Miller, Mitch Miller, Tim Miller, Blake Miller, Gabe Miller, David Hohler and Billy Lesar.

Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
