Hubert L. Jones, 68, of DuQuoin, Ill., died Monday, July 17, 2006, at his home, from lung cancer.
He was born April 16, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, son of Raymond M. and Nellie S. Baker Jones. He and Marilyn Kujawa Reeder were married Nov. 30, 1970, in Pinckneyville, Ill.
Jones managed Martin Oil Co. Gas Station, worked at Rhodes-Burford Furniture, and was chief matrix maker at UNI for 12 years, all in Pinckneyville.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gregory "Greg" Jones of DuQuoin; two stepdaughters, Loretta Auld of St. Peters, Mo., Denise Burke of Naperville, Ill.; three brothers, Joel and Larry Jones of Cape Girardeau, Robert Jones of Sedgewickville, Mo.; two sisters, Geraldine Middleton and Carolyn Hopper of Cape Girardeau; and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood and Epplin Funeral Home in DuQuoin from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. Thursday to service time.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, with Rob Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
