Letter to the Editor

What will our children remember?

To the editor:

I have seen the face of the nation change in many respects. I've seen the rise and fall of the Democrats and now am watching the fall of the Republicans. I've seen the weather change. When I was a kid, for many days you could slide down a hill on a sled. And in the summer it very seldom got above 90 degrees. I also remember going to school to learn instead of socializing. I also remember knowing every family name on my block, and when one had it bad we all helped.

So I asked myself, What will our kids remember and what will they see? Unfortunately I have only these answers: greed, distrust and poverty, and maybe vulgarity with a little licentiousness. I think a wise man once said "All is vanity."
