Voter ID law protects everyone

To the editor:

Gov. Matt Blunt has signed the voter ID law, which makes it necessary for voters to show their driver's license before voting in any election. As a sophomore in college I am part of a younger generation that feels they rarely influence government policies and actions. I feel that the voter ID law is one step toward making sure my vote indeed does matter and that my opinion is heard.

Since I am only 19 years old, I have only been able to vote in a few elections; however, I am an active voter and am glad that Missouri's laws will help make sure my vote is recognized and not cancelled out by someone trying to cheat the system. I would like to thank Gov. Blunt and Sen. Scott for supporting this bill, and I hope that not only our elected officials in Missouri but in every state will continue taking steps to ensure that every voter's voice continues to be heard.
