Chaffee Senior Babe Ruth splits twinbill with Charleston

The Chaffee Senior Babe Ruth baseball team split a pair of run-filled games in a doubleheader at Charleston on Monday night.
Chaffee won the opener 12-8 and lost the second game 12-11.
Chris Hanback pitched four innings for the win in the opener, and added two hits.
Adam Crowe and Zach McDaniel had three hits apiece in the win, and Adam Urhan added two hits and pitched the final three innings.
Hanback went 4-for-5 in the second game, tying the score 11-11 in the top of the seventh with a two-out double. Andy Hendrix and Korey Chapman had three hits apiece, and Crowe, McDaniel and Aaron Horrell had two hits apiece.
Crowe took the loss, allowing a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior teams split
Cape and Scott County shared a doubleheader in American Legion junior baseball.
Cape won the first game 15-6 behind three hits and three RBIs from Jake Valleroy. Nick Allen earned the pitching win.
Scott County retaliated with a 16-6 rout in the second contest.
Cape's Tyler Brandt tallied two hits and three RBIs.
Mark Himmelberg had six hits on the night -- three in each game -- for Cape.
* The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team on Monday swept a doubleheader from district foe Dunklin County.
Dylan Schweer threw a complete game in the opener, which counted in the District 14 standings. Blake Smith had three hits and Nick Allen added two.
Alex Shell had two hits and three RBIs in an 8-2 win in game two. Allen added two hits, and Mark Himmelberg got the win.
