Cable channels make costs go up

To the editor:

Regarding cable-TV competition: Your local cable company does not make its livelihood off cable services. It makes its livelihood off of the other services it offers such as high-speed Internet service. When your rates go up each year, it is not because of the local cable company. It is because of the cable channels raising their rates.

If you want your cable-TV rates to go down, write letters to the channels stating you won't pay more. But remember what happened with Lifetime and Dish Network. When Lifetime raised its rates and Dish wouldn't pay, Dish lost Lifetime, and millions of customers complained. Basically, the cost of entertainment is rising no matter the company or provider.
