Negligent parents should lose rights

To the editor:

Knowingly putting a child's life in danger by allowing her to be in such close proximity to a large moving object like a train should be thought of not only as criminal, but as negligence. Ignorance of whether the train was about to move is not the issue. Intelligent and caring parents do not put their children in danger by allowing such things, much less being the example. A mother who would allow this needs all parental rights removed because of her grossly foolish and dangerous actions.
