PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Elmer F. Taylor Sr., 81, of Perryville died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1924, at Silver Lake, Mo., son of Henry Joseph and Mary Matilda Taylor. He and Mary Ann McDowell were married Sept. 25, 1945.
Taylor was employed for 22 years as a mechanic at Sabreliner. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, VFW Post 4282, and American Legion Post 133. He was a U.S. Army paratrooper in World War II, fought in the Battle of Bulge and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald D. Taylor of Zephyrhills, Fla., Duane D. Taylor of Waco, Texas; a brother, Thomas J. Taylor of Farmington, Mo.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. tomorrow. A VFW wake will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. and a Catholic wake will take place at 7:15 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
