ST. LOUIS -- A St. Louis man and his girlfriend were shot to death in a moving car, apparently by someone in the vehicle with them, police said Thursday.
The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police originally investigated it as a murder-suicide, but no weapon was found, and the entry of the gunshot wounds made a murder-suicide unlikely, police told STLtoday.com, the Web site for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Witnesses said the Pontiac Grand Am was heading east on a service road along the south side of Interstate 70. The car went out of control and through a chain link fence separating the service road from the interstate. It struck a light pole and stopped in the eastbound lanes.
The victims were identified Thursday as Adrian Bivens, 32, and his girlfriend, Latongia Bowens, 26, both of St. Louis. Both were shot in the head.
Police said they have no motive, and no witnesses reported seeing anyone run from Bivens' car after the shooting.
