AARP announces area schedule of free tax aid

The AARP is offering free tax help for low- to moderate-income individuals at locations across the region. Free tax help is also available for seniors and handicapped individuals with Missouri tax credits.

* From 9 a.m. to noon this Thursday and Feb. 16, March 9 and April 6 at the Lone Oak Village Office in Advance, Mo.

* From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Thursday and Feb. 9 at the Riverside Regional Library in Benton, Mo.

* From 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays through April 10 at the Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau.

* From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through April 10 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

* From 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays through April 12 at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.

* From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and April 15 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

* From 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays through April 12 at the Chaffee Senior Center.

* From 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays through April 13 at the Charleston Senior Center.

* From 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through April 10 at the East Prairie Senior Center.

* From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through April 10 at the Riverside Regional Library in Jackson.

* From 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays through April 13 at the Jackson Senior Center.

* From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 7 through April 11 at the Marble Hill Senior Center.

Individuals must bring last year's tax forms; current W-2 forms; SSA-1099 forms and paid property taxes for 2005 or rent receipts from landlord. All handicapped persons must have current proof of disability.
