Learn to say town's name correctly

To the editor:

I was raised here in Cape Girardeau, so no one told me it was "Girardeau." They let me go on saying it the wrong way: Girard-UH. Only when I lived in Ohio did the college kids teach me the right way. I often wonder why they never corrected me in Cape Girardeau. Can you say it right?
