Goat-napping case finds frat members in court

Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Three members of Pi Kappa Alpha appeared in court on Monday for the first time on goat-napping allegations. Joseph M. Nickerson, 20, of Group K dorm, appeared with private attorney Malcolm Montgomery and pleaded not guilty. Associate Circuit Judge Gary Kamp set a hearing for Dec. 29. Jacob A. Aubuchon, 21, of Group K dorm, appeared without an attorney; his hearing was continued until Jan. 9. Andrew G. Kohl, 19, of Towers North, did not appear with his private attorney, John Harding. Kohl had requested a change of judge. The Southeast Missouri State University students were charged on Nov. 22, with misdemeanor counts of theft, and Nickerson with trespassing, by Cape Girardeau County prosecutor Morley Swingle. Members of Sigma Chi alleged that the defendants stole an Alpine Nubian goat, named Sharon, from their fenced-in property. The goat was found at La Croix Animal Hospital.
