Let pit bulls guard the cemetery

To the editor;

Once you have made your bed among the thorns, torture and mental anguish of hell, there is no getting out or turning back. No amount of pleading or regret can ever change that. It will be a pretty hard bed to lie in forever and ever. Remember that.

Perhaps if those thoughts could entice the minds of the many criminals, they would show a change of heart. There is good in everyone. Why not let that be your guide, and not evil?

Recently, the Missourian gave an account of the extensive and destructive vandalism that covered much of Old Lorimier Cemetery. Wouldn't you think that was more work than fun to destroy so many tombstones?

My aunt, Alma Kempe, whose mother was a Lorimier, would turn over in her grave if she knew of the destruction of her great-grandfather's final resting place. Many were the times I accompanied her to place flowers on Louis Lorimier's grave. Her love for him leaves me with memories that will not be lost.

Ways of controlling or blotting out vandalism such as that at Old Lorimier Cemetery, I feel, will in time be found.

Perhaps by putting a couple of pit bull dogs in the cemetery each night could serve as an answer. Pit bulls are known to be vicious. I'll bet they could put an end to vandalism. They also could make short of the vandals, and it wouldn't take too long.

I'll bet I am right. Just try it and see.
