Peggy Lee Fornkohl Meyer, 68, of Springville, Tenn., died in an automobile accident Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, near Poplar Bluff, Mo. Her husband, Harold "Butch" Meyer also died.
She was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Harlem C. Fornkohl and Hazel M. Steeg Fornkohl Loch. She and Harold Meyer were married June 1, 1957, at Grace United Methodist Church.
Peggy grew up in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Central High School in 1955. Once married to Butch, they lived in many different areas of the United States, as well as Okinawa, Japan, while he served in the U.S. Air Force.
She returned to the Cape Girardeau-Jackson area in 1974 and then in 1982 moved to Katy, Texas, where she managed several boutique shops and was also manager of Katy Chamber of Commerce.
In 2003 she and Butch retired to Springville, Tenn. Peggy was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and was very involved with church activities. She also loved being with family and friends and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Tabitha Lee Meyer Williams, and a grandson, Dustin Williams, both of Katy; two sisters, Doris Jean (Vince) Roll of Sunman, Ind., Jane Ann Hunley of Worthville, Ky.; a former son-in-law, Danny Williams of Houston, Texas; nine nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends in Cape Girardeau and Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, Tenn.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Springville.
