Emcee praised for her efforts at Summerfest

To the editor:

The emcee of the Scott City Summerfest queen contest is far from biased. Hats off to our emcee of the Miss Summer Teen pageant and new Scott City Woman of the Year. Keep up the good work. You do wonders for our community, and our club appreciates your continued support.

Kudos to all of the contestants for outstanding answers. One of the questions asked was, "What are your plans when you finish high school?" Yes, a 5-year-old could have answered it, but would the answer have been as meaningful as those given? I think not. The admiration for PowerPuff Girls at age 5 and for a mother in a girl's teens are totally different. The winner's answer to the question "What qualities do you look for in a boyfriend?" was answered remarkably. She won on her own merit, and her boyfriend is not the son of a judge. A "tongue-wagging dress" is not what makes the winner. One of the rules in judging is not to judge the dress, but the girl
