Congratulations, Jr.

In the midst of all the hoopla over the big wingding Saturday for the Southeast Missourian's centennial finale, a 56-page special tabloid section in Tuesday's newspaper heralded another major milestone within the newspaper family: the fifth anniversary of the Southeast Missourian Jr.

Recognized many times over in with national and state awards, Southeast Missourian Jr. is a monthly publication for young readers.

Much of the content of the special newspaper for kids is produced by those same young readers.

And the Southeast Missourian Jr. mascot, Tracker, has become a popular star attraction at the many events sponsored by the kids' newspaper.

Southeast Missourian Jr. is the brainchild of Cheryl Ellis of the Southeast Missourian's advertising department. Because of her passion and determination, "the Jr." has become a must-read for thousands of children throughout the area. It also has become an important tool for teachers in lower grades.

Thanks to the involvement of young readers, support from teachers and sponsorship from committed advertisers, Southeast Missourian Jr. can be proud of its first five years and have high hopes for the future.

Congratulations to everyone involved with the success of the Southeast Missourian Jr.
