'Killshot' crew, stars to shoot for three days in CapeTuesday, August 23, 2005Production of the movie version of Elmore Leonard's gritty crime novel, "Killshot," will include three days of shooting in Cape Girardeau later this year or early next year, according to Jerry Jones, director of the Missouri Film Commission. The film -- to star Diane Lane, Justin Timberlake, Mickey Rourke and others -- will begin shooting in Toronto on Oct. 11, but will do its final three days of shooting in Cape Girardeau in late December or early January, Jones said. Jones estimated it will mean at least $100,000 a day to Cape Girardeau's economy, from hotel nights for as many as 100 movie-makers to rental cars to paying extras. While filming will take three days, there will likely be weeks of pre-filming work, he said. Director John Madden, director of the Academy-Award winning "Shakespeare in Love," will also be here, along with Diane Lane and the film's male lead, who has not been cast yet. Previous reports of "Lord of the Rings" star Viggo Mortensen were inaccurate, though he was discussed for the role. For the complete story, see Wednesday's Southeast Missourian. |
