Letter to the Editor
Emerson voted against PBS funding
Sunday, July 17, 2005
To the editor:
Before the U.S. House of Representatives voted on funding for PBS, I contacted U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson to let her know that I wanted her to vote for funding public television and radio. I just received her reply, which I appreciate. Her letter was confusing, lauding the fact that the House voted to not cut funding for PBS. Her response to me made it sound like she had supported that outcome when in fact she voted to cut funding. I think it is important that other voters who contacted Emerson know that she does not support funding for PBS and NPR. She was wrong to imply in her letter that she does.
