WICKLIFFE, Ky. -- Robert "Bob" Skaggs, 73, of Wickliffe died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was born in Cairo, Ill., son of Ray and Robbie E. Skaggs.
Skaggs worked in the marine industry more than 55 years. He was a deckhand on a towboat and then became vice president of Cairo Marine Service. He established his own company in 1981, and was active with Skaggs Marine Service until his death.
He was president of Paducah Retired Riverman's Association, past vice president of Ohio Valley Regional National Propeller Club, and past president of Paducah Propeller Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; a son, Gary Skaggs of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two daughters, Sandra Craddock of Evansville, Ind., Sue Davis of Marion, Ill.; two brothers, Phillip Skaggs of Chester, Ill., Michael Skaggs of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Billie Jean Frazee of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; and three stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Wickliffe.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Bill Polley officiating. Burial will be at a later date at La Center Cemetery in La Center, Ky.
