Wiles epitomizes best of being college professor

To the editor:

I want to congratulate Dr. Charles Wiles on his new position in Southeast Missouri State University's athletic department.

As a former student of Wiles, I am sure there are many other students who will agree with me that he is a superb educator who has impacted the lives of many of us who have gone on to work in a marketing or communications environment. He epitomizes what a college professor should be.

He is a professional in the field of promotions. Thanks to Don Kaverman's leadership, we have a good sports program and the right person to lead the sports marketing department. His leadership and experience will help develop promotional strategies that will enhance the marketing mix of the athletics department.

No day goes by that I don't rely on Wiles' advice. I took so many of his classes that he once told me if I took one more of his courses I could have "a minor in Wiles." The knowledge I gained from his tutelage in public relations and public opinion management are invaluable.

Thank you, Dr. Wiles, and keep up the good work.
