Clifford J. Kennedy, 83, of Niles, Mich., died Monday, June 13, 2005, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1922, at Oran, Mo., son of Joseph P. and Dadie Ruth London Kennedy. He and Maudene J. Breedlove were married Feb. 11, 1944, in Corvallis, Ore.
Kennedy worked 30 years at Bendix Corp. in South Bend, Ind., retiring in 1982. He also raised cattle, did crop farming, and trained mules. He moved to Niles in 1951 from Missouri.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald Kennedy of Niles, Timothy Kennedy of Mentone, Ind.; a daughter, Sharon Hess of Niles; three sisters, Pauline Bumgardner and Verba Shoemaker of Perkins, Mo., Ina Faulkner of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Lendel Kennedy of Niles; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The funeral was held June 16 at Coulter's Chapel Church of God in Niles, with the Revs. David DeVoll and Kenneth Shoemaker officiating. Burial was in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens at Niles.
Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles was in charge of arrangements.
