Family has right priorities

To the editor:

Thanks for the great article on the Schabbing family ("Searching for greener pastures: The call of the cows.")

People should also know that whatever extra time David and his family have is usually spent working on the girls' softball diamonds at Central High School in Cape Girardeau. Without David's hard work and dedication, the two diamonds would not be the excellent facilities that they are. Not only did he help build these diamonds, but he continues to help maintain them, using specialized equipment to cut the grass in a professional way.

When David can't come, his wife and kids usually do. Annette has worked tirelessly helping out with the softball program while performing a full-time job as a nurse.

Don't forget Erica, who in her spare time coaches her younger sister's summer team.

When you think you're too busy to give some time to involve yourself in helping kids, think of this family. It's a matter of priorities, and theirs are in the right place. God bless them.
