Marshall Lee Vowels, 74, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 8, 1928, at Wyatt, Mo., son of Albert and Gladys Miller Vowels. He and Mary Faith Estes were married Dec. 3, 1950, at Fornfelt, Mo.
Vowels was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, Mo. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Vowels served in the Korean War. Vowels owned Vowels Tire and Appliance in Dexter. He was a former board member of Dexter Memorial Hospital and active in the Dexter Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Vowels of Dexter; a daughter, Marsha Edwards of Cape Girardeau; a brother, George Vowels of Butler, Mo.; a sister, Judy Lunceford of Brawley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
