Charles Lindy Castleberry, 76, of Bertrand, Mo., died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in McMullin, Mo., to the late Carroll and Claudia Smith Castleberry. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as the Mississippi County area supervisor until his retirement.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston, Mo. He married Genevieve Byrd Jan. 21, 1949, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include, one son, Fred Castleberry of Charleston, Mo.; two brothers, Gerald Castleberry of Germantown, N.C., and J.D. Castleberry of Sikeston; two sisters, Mildred Hamilton of Davenport, Iowa, and Josie Yant of East Prairie, Mo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2003, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston, with the Rev. John Bouldrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Armer Cemetery, near Bertrand.
