Mary C. Kirn, 86 of Jackson died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at her home.

She was born June 18, 1916, in Benton, Mo., daughter of Eugene and Clara Diebold Essner. She and Ed Kirn were married May 6, 1941, at Benton. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1990.

Mary and Ed owned and operated Ed Kirn and Sons Trucking in Jackson 40 years. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society at the church, and prayer partner in the Perpetual Adoration Society of the Sacred Heart at the Chapel at St. Francis Medical Center.

Surviving are three sons, Tony Kirn and wife Katy of Pekin, Ill., David Kirn and wife Sally of Gold River, Calif., Mike Kirn and wife Alyson of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters, Patricia Collord and husband Robin of Valley View, Texas, and Wilma Hilton and husband Bob of Richmond, Texas.

Also surviving is a brother, Paul Essner of Benton; four sisters, Cyrilla Brandenburg of Houston, Texas, Tillie Helmer of Oakhurst, Calif., Alma Bunting of Jackson, Mich., Clara Brucker of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Henry Kirn of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Edna Burford of Benton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by the rosary service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Hilton, Lucas Kirn, Stan Essner, Brian Kirn, David Kirn and Craig Bolda. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Kirn, Paul Essner and Robin Collord.

Contributions in Mary's memory may take the form of donations to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or Southeast Hospice.
