Jesse L. Gorham, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 13, 1929, at Greencastle, Ind., son of Jesse L. Gorham Sr. and Erma L. Jones Gorham. He and Mary L. Dyer were married Aug. 29, 1952, at Paris, Ill.
He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. He lived in Springfield, Ill., for 30 years before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1988. He worked as a taxi cab driver in Springfield.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Perry L. Gorham of Springfield and Robin B. Gorham of Bloomington, Ill.; three daughters, Lorena P. Newberry and Glenda G. Gibson, both of Springfield, Ill., and Michele L. Sedlock of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Delvin Gorham of Irving, Texas, and Stephen O. Gorham of Bloomington; a sister, Erma L. Jackson of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at House of Hope Church, with the Rev. Blake Tieman officiating.
