Delta builds big lead early, tops Woodland

Delta built a 20-point lead in the first quarter and coasted to a a 73-26 road win over Woodland in girls basketball Thursday.

Rebecca Below scored 27 points for Delta (18-2), while Sarah M. Cook tallied 17.

Elisha Glastetter finished with 10 points for Woodland.

Kelly 62, NMCC 28

Kelly outscored host New Madrid Co. Central in every quarter on its way to a victory.

For Kelly (16-6), Dana Essner netted 15 points, and Ashley Kern and Kelly Essner each had 12.

Kelly led 27-15 at halftime and pushed the lead to 48-20 by the end of the third quarter.

DeSoto 48, Perryville 46

Perryville dropped to 13-8 with a road loss.

The Pirates went into halftime tied at 20 but were outscored 20-9 in the third quarter. Perryville used a strong fourth-quarter comeback to get within two but could not pull out the win.

April Lorenz led Perryville with 22 points. Amber Hacker added 11.

Windsor 73, St. Vincent 33

Windsor hit 11 3-pointers as it picked up a Jefferson County Conference win at home over St. Vincent.

Chelsea Brown and Ashley Richardet each scored eight points for St. Vincent (7-13).

Windsor led 37-22 at halftime and outscored the Squaws 24-3 in the third quarter.

Dexter 71, Chaffee 41

Chaffee mustered just six first-half points as it fell at home to Dexter.

Dexter, up 40-6 at halftime, got 37 points from Katie Dunlap.

Chaffee (5-11), which outscored Dexter 35-31 in the second half, got 20 points from Jennifer Vandeven.

OTHER EVENTS

  • Saxony Lutheran wrapped up a winning JV basketball season with a 45-34 win over Marquand's junior-varsity team. Lauren Lueders and Tim Lorenz each had 14 points for Saxony, which finished its first season in school history with a 19-4 record.-- From staff reports
