Batman Baled out
Posted Tuesday, July 22, 2008 @ 07:29 pm

Holy schnikes, Batman! "The Dark Knight" wholloped the competition at the box office over the weekend.
But today the news has been about another kind of wholloping. According to the Associated Press and a slew of other media outlets, Christian Bale -- the man behind the Caped Crusader -- was at a London police station for four hours at a London police station Tuesday answering questions about an alleged assault. The people who filed the complaint? Bale's mom and sister.
From the Associated Press: "Bale said the allegations were false Tuesday, hours after the Wales-born actor was arrested, questioned by London police and released on bail. The 34-year-old actor spent four hours talking with authorities but was not charged.
"British media reported that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before attending the European premiere of "The Dark Knight." The Sun newspaper said the complaint was filed by sister Sharon Bale and mother Jenny Bale. "
Let's reiterate that NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED. In fact, very little is known about the situation. E! Online reported that Bale will return to the station in September for further inquiry.
Over at TMZ.com, a source said "Bale pushed his mom out of the way during the altercation. She was not hurt and did not fall down. There's a division of opinion on whether the contact was a "push" or a "brush."" Of course, TMZ also reported that Bale threw a tantrum on the set of latest film, "Terminator 4," implying the actor has some anger issues.
Clearly, there's still a lot of unknowns in what is a very sad situation. Families fight...it's unfortunate that this fight has become so public. Bale is a star on the rise. His Batman has earned rave reviews, even if Heath Ledger's manical Joker has garned more of the spotlight. Hopefully the family will be able to resolve their issues.

No, the twins aren't here yet, but they could be soon.
According to the Associated Press and E! online, Angelina Jolie has checked into the Lenval hospital in Nice, France, to await the birth of most buzzed about twins since the Olsens had their heyday.
By all accounts Jolie's digs in Nice are, well, nice.

Working in a newsroom, we get our fill each week of politics, economics and the fickle Southeast Missouri weather. Reading the paper for eight hours a night can be draining, so in our downtime we spend countless hours (countless, of course, because wešve never bothered to count them) indulging our guilty pleasures: reading about Britney Spears (sorry, we just can't leave her alone!), surfing Internet gossip sites (apparently Amy Winehouse is going to launch her own line of beauty products -- no joke), watching reality TV (why are none of the Real Housewives actual housewives?) and keeping up with our favorite pop-culture trends (gotta love those celebrity couple nicknames). Now we're sharing our love of celebrity scandal and gossip with you.
