Father's Day thoughts
(Community ~ 06/19/16)
Dads fill several necessary roles, but one of the bullet points in our job description is that of defender. We defend our children. When that defense becomes excessive, we become helicopter parents, hovering over our children, fearful of any misstep and, without realizing it, we effectively hobble our kids for life...

Finding solidarity in community
(Community ~ 06/19/16)
One of the greatest challenges -- and joys -- we get to experience in life is learning how to live in community with others. A summer spin on the grilled cheese sandwich (Community ~ 06/19/16)
Associated Press Several weeks ago when we rolled out the grill for the first time of the season, there was much joy. What to grill first? Ribs? Burgers? Pizza? So many choices. This is the sandwich that triumphed: A marriage of a summer BLT and an actually grilled-grilled-cheese sandwich. The buttery crunch of the bread, the juicy tomatoes, the melty cheese, the crisp bacon and lettuce -- these two sandwiches were meant to find each other and become one... -
What's in a name? Ask the folks in Two Egg, Florida (Community ~ 06/19/16)

William Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." If alive today, he would likely agree with President Obama and say, "A terrorist threat by any other name would still be a terrorist threat." When are we going to get some new comics? "Rose" is getting very boring. "Sally Forth" is getting sickening with the daughter, and "Dilbert" has always been stupid. I like comics, but there is nothing comical about any of them. Thank you...
