A Thursday night fire at 523 S. Minnesota Ave. in Cape Girardeau was determined to be accidental, according to the Cape Girardeau Fire Department. Police agencies report little drunken driving on New Year's Eve (01/01/10)
Cape Girardeau County deputies made one drunken driving arrest over the New Year's holiday Thursday and Friday and cited four minors for possessing alcohol.
Iona School (01/01/10)
Iona School was established in 1891. It was situated off Route V west of the Highway 177 intersection at the southeast edge of Trail of Tears State Park. The school was closed and the district became part of the Nell Holcomb R-4 School District which opened in 1960. The Iona School building no longer exists.
