To the editor: Jackson High School's speech and debate department competed April 22 at the state level in Columbia, Mo. My granddaughter, Audrey Stanfield, competed in radio news broadcasting, one of 12 events. There were two rounds of preliminaries and a final round. I am so proud to relate she brought the school a first place. This is only the second time this has occurred, the last being 17 years ago. How great it is to have a state champion. To the editor: Where is our law enforcement when it's needed, especially the federal law enforcement? My sources inform me that there is rampant theft of heavy equipment in New Orleans. Dump trucks, forklifts, cranes, Bobcats and front-end loaders have been taken. When the New Orleans police are informed, they do nothing. The police say the heavy equipment is being placed on ships and sent to Cuba. In one case a dump truck was spotted in a video taken in Cuba...
