LETTERS: NO HUMOR IN SEXUAL HARASSMENT
(Letter to the Editor ~ 07/05/97)
To the editor: Having just read Kathleen Parker's column, "PC and Beetle Bailey," I feel compelled to respond. First, Parker misses the point entirely when she attempts to frame the issue of sexual harassment as "feminists who lack a sense of humor." Those who have experienced sexual harassment, sexual abuse or sexual assault do not see the humor in this behavior at all, and many of them do not consider themselves to be feminists...

ROAD PLAN IS LITTLE MORE THAN A SCAM
(Editorial ~ 07/05/97)
It has been a long time since Missouri voters have had foisted upon them a scam anything like the work of the so-called Total Transportation Commission. This 35-member group was appointed last year by Gov. Mel Carnahan -- by executive order and without any warrant in the Constitution -- supposedly to address, in comprehensive fashion, all the transportation needs of the state...

BUCKING THE SYSTEM: NO PLACE LIKE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
(Column ~ 07/05/97)

While I love the U.S.A. and enjoy getting into the patriotic swing of things, I must admit that Independence Day is not my favorite holiday. Actually, I am starting to dislike the holiday a little more each year, in direct proportion to my slower reaction times when firecrackers are thrown in my direction...
