Dear Editor, The first "Tour de Girardot Cycling Classic" was a tremendous success. The weekend was built around competition and proved to be educational, fun and entertaining. Hosted by the Friends of St. Francis, cyclists came from eight states to participate. Children participated in a safety clinic on Sunday. Volunteers enjoyed a dinner and learned "bike talk." The conclusion is: cycling is an exciting sport!...

Cape Girardeau may not be required to hold a special local election on the constitutional amendment that would allow games of chance on Missouri riverboats, but voters statewide may still have to go the polls on the slot machine issue.
