We've heard about cocaine seizures, increased penalties for marijuana usage, the problem of crack and the resurgence of LSD. But we don't hear much about the number one drug of choice among our youth in Illinois alcohol...

Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri State University should be very pleased to host a meeting of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education today. It is the first time this statewide group has met at the campus here since 1986, and quite a lot has gone on since then. The university has a convincing case to make for itself in a physical as well as curricular sense and should be proud to show itself off for the coordinating board...

CHAFFEE Fred Dennison, 82, of Chaffee, formerly of Advance, died Thursday, April 9, 1992. He was born Nov. 29, 1909 in Mountain Home, Ark. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chaffee. He married Beatrice Gobble on April 25, 1931 at Marble Hill. She survives. Dr. Thomas Garfield Otto, 73, 511 Alta Vista, died Thursday, April 9, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was an orthopaedic surgeon in Cape Girardeau nearly 40 years. He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Milk River, Alberta, Canada, son of Thomas G. and Cora May Hotze Otto. He and Dorothy Steedman were married May 20, 1944, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...
