Friends of Fort D Historic Site celebrated the nation’s birthday with cannon and rifle fire at Fort D Historic Site, located at 920 Fort Street in Cape Girardeau. The renovated stone building known as the ‘blockhouse’ was open for visitors, and volunteers held cannon and rifle demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 3, through Monday, July 5, 2021.
