Notre Dame lost to Helias 1-0 in a shootout Friday, falling short in the bid for a third straight Class 2 State Championship.

Notre Dame goalkeeper Ryan Bass fell to the ground Friday afternoon, November 21, 2008, after failing to score a penalty kick in a shoot out in the state semifinal match at Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton, Mo. Helias players rushed to their fans celebrating the win. After no scores in regular time and overtime, the game was determined by a shoot out. Helias won 1-0.
