Chaffee boil-water order
A Missouri DNR inspector visited Chaffee on Tuesday. After checking water quality, he found little to no chlorine in the system and issued a boil-water advisory.

Shannon Hendrix accepts a loaner mask from Bill Pecord, until the city of Chaffee can buy one. Hendrix was rushed to the hospital Thursday after being exposed to chlorine gas after a pump failed at the city's water treatment plant.

At each site water was checked several times for the presence of chlorine. Mike Tate, Missouri DNR water specialist said chlorine can be dangerous, but is effective at keeping water clean.

The Chaffee Drive In was among the city business that alerted customers to the boil-water order issued Tuesday afternoon. The order will remain in effect until the city has two full days of tests that show appropriate levels of chlorine throughout the city.
