    Southeast Missouri State University art professor, Chris Wubbena, supervised the installation of his 14-foot tall sculpture, "Commence" on Monday morning, July 24, 2017, in Cape Girardeau's Fountain Street roundabout. Parks and recreation employees installed the sculpture. The students that helped construct the sculpture were also on hand to help put the finishing touches on it.

    Briarwood Manor at 1172 Wolf Lane in Cape Girardeau. Author Carl Armstrong wrote the book, "Briarwood's Window on Cape Girardeau's Regional History" that shows the history of the house in Cape Girardeau.

    Sgt. Bryan Blattner with K-9 officer Schupo and Officer Eric Steiner and K-9 officer Dallas. Officer Dallas recently joined the force while officer Schupo will soon retire later this September. The Cape Girardeau Police Department plans to obtain two more K-9 officers, of a total of four, having one on duty for every shift in a day.
