  • Are the libs running out of talking points for Obama?

I heard a couple of times recently that polls indicate Romney could beat Obama, nothing I can quote.

Without anything good to credit Obama with we are now subject to hearing how bad those evil republicans are.

How long until we hear that republicans want to take away medicare and social security, close the orphanage, and roll back regulations on big banks and polar bear protection?

    Did I leave anything out?

  • As far as I'm concerned, I want Romney to beat Obama on November 6. For all the faults that Romney may or may not have, none of them can possibly match those of Obama.

So come Janyary 29, 2013 let Obama join the unemployed line along with many other

    Americans.

  • Obama made a speech yesterday blaming Bush for the economic mess we have today. 3 1/2 years in and this man-child is still blaming Bush. He said the "Bush" tax cuts were to blame.

Didn't the democrat congress pass an extension to those cuts and didn't Obama sign it? He is SO weak. Good riddance in January!

-- Posted by Dug on Fri, Apr 20, 2012, at 9:06 AM
  • "Didn't the democrat congress pass an extension to those cuts and didn't Obama sign it?"

As usual, you have your facts skewed in the wrong direction. President Obama favored preserving the tax cuts for the vast majority of those Americans with incomes less than $250,000. The Republicans refused to pass those tax cuts unless the President included all incomes.

In light of this "extortion" the President signed the Bush tax cuts for another 2 years, knowing it would needlessly contribute to the deficit, but agreeing on behalf of the majority of Americans who continue to deserve help in the ongoing recovery.

As usual, your spin exposes your lies. You forgot to mention that the democrats had complete control of the entire congress! Obama AND THE DEMOCRATS extended the tax cuts. Republicans, on their own, could not have stopped the party of Karl Marx.

Poor Obama, he was "extorted". Always the victim, right common? They are now the "Obama tax cuts" common - own up to it.

-- Posted by Dug on Fri, Apr 20, 2012, at 11:29 AM
  • "...is now to blame due to blackmail."

If you don't like the term "extortion" pick your own....

The facts are simple. The President wanted to extend the Bush tax cuts only for those Americans with incomes below $250,000. The Republican party said they wanted the Bush tax cuts for those with incomes over $250,000 and if the President did not concede, there would be no tax cuts for anyone. President Obama decided in favor of the majority of Americans.

    What do you call that?

In addition, the "job creators" have had low tax rates for more than the past 9 years, and no jobs created and jobs lost. What makes anyone think they will do anything now?

-- Posted by commonsensematters on Fri, Apr 20, 2012, at 3:34 PM
  • common - you continue to dodge the problem with your extortion. Was he extorted by democrats? Democrats controlled both the house and senate when the tax cuts were extended and signed by Obama.

But it's Bush's fault. Keep saying that to everyone and telling them to vote for Obama - that's all you have in 2012 "It's Bush's fault".

-- Posted by Dug on Fri, Apr 20, 2012, at 3:36 PM
  • Hey, what common is saying is that Republicans are fair to all taxpayers....giving one and all tax cuts. Democrats, on the other hand want to pick and choose who gets tax cuts.

    Did I get that right?

-- Posted by InReply on Fri, Apr 20, 2012, at 4:31 PM
  • I think In Relpy got it right.

Obama's handlers are using a divide and promise strategy or "What can government do for you?" campaign.

Poor people see the wealthy brought down a notch.

People with ties to illegal immigrants get talk of amnesty in disquise.

Women get conraceptive free and promise of other concerns.

Young folks are promised help with higher education financing.

Folks upside down in their home loans are promised the banks will be forced to reduce what they owe.

The list goes on. Something for everyone from everyone else.

What can Obama do for you?

I thought the jobs report said something different. There has been employment. You just want to give praise to the president instead of anything or anyone else. This is one of those nebulous areas like "saving jobs" which cannot be directly proven but trends are important. I would say Mr. Obama gets credit for the Obama tax cuts creating or "saving" jobs. Romney may not be any better, but he sure can't be worse. We need to clean house in DC and vote out all that have been wasting our money. BTW, common, those tax cuts let people keep more of their money. It's not government money

  • Blunt may be wrong about Obama focusing on the wrong issues. It looks like Obama is focusing on the issue that got him elected in the first place...free money. It worked four years ago. He has to keep those voters and he figures union members will vote as they are told so he doesn't have to focus on jobs or fuel.

You should know business will not take a chance when there is so much dithering in Obama's plans. We planned an expansion in 08 but glad we didn't. Had friend that did and they made a horrible mistake.

The only work that is going strong is paid with federal fund while private sector contracts are few and far between. Who does the federal money help? Unions. The same people that strive to have Obama reelected. Who pays for those federal funds? Me.

Until the private sector can get back to work the decline will proceed. This is the worst spring I have seen in almost 30 years of business.

Theorist, Thanks for sharing, you could apply for Spin Czar but Common may already have that wrapped up. There's always the comedy Czar to consider. :)

Wonder how much a Czar position pays?

I'll vote for you for Chicken and Dumpling Czar if I can count on your support for me being the Chili Czar.

With the cool weather I decided I needed some chili so I made a pot of 3 Beer Chili today. Swing by and I'll give you a bowl.

Obamy sure has loaded the deck with jokers, has he not?

  • Wheels, "chili", there you go putting ideas in my head. That sounds like my next project.

The Czar listing was clearly from a anti Obama lover's viewpoint but it clearly says a lot about the people and ideas in with which he associates himself.

I just don't think the average voter today has a clue and wouldn't be surprised if he pulls off fooling them again without knowing they were fooled the first time.

Last election my elderly neighbors told me not to vote republican because they were going to take away their social security.

Some of the young folks I am around kind of get it just enough to know Obama is there man because he is going to give them more from the government.

  • However, it is not because of lack of bailing or effort.-- Posted by Theorist on Tue, Apr 24, 2012, at 7:51 AM

Obama's "effort" to save the sinking canoe is to cut out other parts to patch a hole creating more holes - aka borrowing $5 trillion to help us get out of a financial problem?

I know what liberals also know. Greece is having riots because their public "pensions" (social security) MUST be cut to save the country from default. Where do you libs think social security will be when we are near default? We have MORE DEBT per person in the US than Greece! Yet you laud Obama's spending.

You also know that getting millionaires to pay more will add a few billion to the tax coffers - nowhere near enough to pay for your spending sprees. Your ideas are formula for disaster. Obama is leading the charge. He doesn't give a d*** about any of you - not even you caddy! He's rich, a 1%er and will survive any cuts to social security or medicare. But he IS counting on your vote.

    Old John,

On another thread, Dexterite, a good follow them to hell Democrat did not know the difference between a Mormon and a Jehovah Wittness, and claimied that Baptists would never vote for a Mormon. I happen to have some very good Baptist friends that will definitely vote for Romney should he be the candidate this year. His religion is not what they are concerned about... Obama's lack of performance in running this country and his hell bent determination to turn us into a socialist (or worse) country is what they are concerned about.

  • "Oh, and a little information....czar is a 1600-year-old name for a ruler."

    Theorist,

I did not think we were a nation of "Rulers". I thought we elected a government that operated under rule of laws that were established by our elected leaders all supposedly written under the guidance and adherence to our Constitution. and the Ammendments to it. A Democracy within a Republic.

When did electing "Little Hitler" change all of that?

Soo far as suggesting "So Wheels is a Caesar....", not sure what that childish comment was about.

    Old John,

I saw that list floating around and googled it. I found it on a number of sites and this site was the least cluttered and one I felt would have researched it. It is a Jewish Organization. Since Jewish people have been tradionally Democrat, I felt there should have been less bias.

So far not one of the blind OW's have denied any part of it being true. Theorist comes out with a list of so called accomplishments that I fail to believe are factual. Common is probably about #7 on the list getting together an essay proving each of them ready for cannonization while they are still alive.

    Rick,

    Are you against recycling? ;-)

    Do you eat hot dogs?

It's hard to find a good source of food that doesn't have some undesirable beginnings. I read the other day that as much as 85% of our sea food is imported. I am very selective on where I buy and eat seafood from. Especially after viewing that little expose piece I saw a while back on TV. Showed raw sewage from the huts of the workers running into the Catfish ponds, where some of our imported fish comes from.

Does cyling raw sewage through a fish make it safe for human consumption? Raw sewage running down the streets of early American cities was a huge contributor to cholera epidemics.

Common spin - who said there wasn't an exemption? Not me - only you implied that. Your credibility is waning.

So I can't hire high school 17 year olds to bale hay? To help raise livestock or feed horses? I guess you and Obama only want them to work at McDonalds? The hardest hit group by unemployment under Obama is our youth. There are no jobs for them thanks to your president. Now they can't work on farms?

    Dug,

Obama can always start a youth corps (Pronounced corpse by Obama) like Hitler did. He can teach them to march and report on their parents suscpicious activities.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Wed, Apr 25, 2012, at 9:23 AM
  • "The FLSA also provides a complete exemption for youths employed on farms owned by their parents."

The exemption has always been there, but has now been narrowed only to farms only solely by their parents. Typically, they were permitted to work on farms owned, in whole or in part, by family members.

For example, I worked on the farm owned by my grandfather and two of his sons (my uncles). That labour would be prohibited under the new policy. 'Family farms' are frequently owned jointly by several members of family.

It is typical of the Obama administrations use of narrow definitions, being able to claim that exemptions exist when the exemptions cover nearly no one. We see that in the 'religious exemption' of his contraceptive mandate - covering only churches that hire and minister to members of their own faith. Few churches do that - reaching out to non-believers is a part of the Christian tradition.

  • The excemptions still don't allow one's own children to operate machinery, participate in castration or be around any hazardous products.

The actual wording of the proposed rules would prohibit your 15 year old from using a riding mower.

Obama's people must not like farmers. They also want that truck that hauls grain down the gravel road from the field to the grain bins to have a DOT number and a driver with a CDL.

New regulations to keep the farmers from stirring up the dust and ban hogs from living like pigs are also pending.

All farm products according to these people fall under interstate commerce regulations as well as DNR and EPA.
