Traditionally, we Westerners have placed a certain reverence on the remains of our dead. This is supposed to particularly so in the case of our honoured dead - those who died fighting for our freedom.

It is tragic to think that other soldiers may have died or suffered serious injury retrieving those bodies, only to have them unceremoniously dumped in a landfill.

Methinks we owe them a greater level of respect.

  • My initial understanding was that the bodys were unreconizable and not whole and that families had instructed creamation and honorable disposal.

Looks like that wasn't right and we will learn more as the facts become known.

  • Our military personnel deserve better than this. These were somebodys' loved ones.

  • The Air Force says they were not bodies, but rather unidentifiable body parts that were cremated prior to disposal. They are now being buried at sea.

What do you suggest they should have done?

  • Give them a proper burial, methinks. Burial at sea fits the bill, tossing them in a landfill does not.

And that is the Obama voters opinion. What else can you expect from a socialist?

  • "What else can you expect from a socialist?"

Not being a socialist, I have no idea. I agree that burial at sea is appropriate. An alternative would have been to place the remains in a "unknown" grave at a nearby National Cemetery. However, this is one issue where who you voted for has absolutely no relevance or bearing on the topic.

  • Common, I agree. I wonder if this could be in part a failure to communicate and a failure for someone to recognize and question procedure.

I doubt there is any intent by our military to dishonor fallen soldiers.

  • Common

I caught your "What do you suggest they should have done?" and took it as you were protecting the commander in chief. If I took it wrong I apologize.

As far as socialist? Obama is a socialist and You take up for him at every opportunity so......

  • We seem to be becoming more backward and primitive every day. The sad thing is we congratulate ourselves on our great enlightenment at the same time.

  • The dumping predates Mr. Obama's tenure. I doubt he had any knowledge of it.
