  • Oh Lordy, if only it were possible to be so!

As to Biden, not to worry. Even many Democrats know he's someplace left of Looney Tunes.

  • You had me there for a hopeful moment. We can only hope they will continue to fall one at a time. They only need to look to Libya for an example of what the results of tyranny looks like. And to Dex,,,we drink because that helps us deal with all the crap we keep hearing our representatives pull on us without any regard to the effects on the people. We can sober up when we take America back from the socialist, stalinist mentality governing our country. It happened before, it is happening now, and will happen again.

  • Thought this might be a good place to paste this ... even though it wasn't April Fool's Day when the question was asked/answered:

    Dec. 20, 2007, Boston Globe:

Question: In what circumstances, if any, would the president have constitutional authority to bomb Iran without seeking a use-of-force authorization from Congress? (Specifically, what about the strategic bombing of suspected nuclear sites -- a situation that does not involve stopping an IMMINENT threat?)

Obama: The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.

  • Gmom,

Here are videos of Vice-President Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton giving their opinion of a President's power to go to war without the authorization of Congress.

    http://www.sadhillnews.com/2011/03/23/biden-impeach-the-president

But, I suppose they were talking about a Republican President. Funny how your opinion changes when the party in power changes. Would you call this hypocrisy? And, yes, it goes both ways. This is just the most current example.

Why do voters continue to vote for candidates when they know these same candidates are lying through their teeth? I guess it is evidence that voters make their decisions upon how much pork they can expect the candidates to provide for them! That is a sad commentary on the state of this nation.

  • We seem to need a 'new system' for the 'hiring' of our leaders, don't we?

Guess we could look at politicians like Rangel ... Doesn't matter what they do, how dishonest they are, it's what they can 'give' certain groups of voters.

Thanks for the video links, stnmsn. Be kind of interesting to hear what they're saying in private about Obama/Libya, wouldn't it?
