Speak Out: Does Broden see the only means to end the stranglehold in Washington.

"Our nation was founded on violence; the option is on the table," he said. "I don't think that we should ever remove anything from the table as it relates to our liberties and our freedoms."

  • I think "nut job" is a required qualification to becoming a politician, along with "liar" and "sleaze ball."

  • adidas...you are too kind..I can think of much worse names but yours are a start.

  • I notice the previous remarks were made wearing what looks like a clergy collar and in the interview he was wearing his politic suit.

I didn't know right had a new face and that one video is not enough for me to say he's a nut job.

  • Old John:

Would a video of him racing up the capitol steps with an AK47 maybe change your mind? Rational people just don't make statements like that. I just wonder if they say things like that to get attention or are they serious?

  • Typical Decocratic slander and obfuscation. Ho Hum, so what else is new?

  • voyager's rubber stamp answer to everything.

  • I don't know if voyager has a rubber stamp, but if he ever has a big yard sale, I think I'll try to buy that old matress of wisdom he's been sleeping on all these years. May be worth more than you think.

The first ones to say it were our forefathers that wrote the laws. They knew what was going to happen so they gave us the rights to protect ourselves from a run away government. I hope he is serious.

It's been the limp wisted liberals that think it is wrong to challenge the government. Most of them just want a free ride or think we should all be equal. I do not want to be their equal. Being lazy doesn't set well with me.

  • Regret, As a young guy I was slow to mature but when I did I began to think them old guys may know something. Maybe been there done that I guess. Since, with only a couple of exceptions that has worked well for me.

But I think we should take note that our old people today are not your father's oldspeople.

My father's oldspeople would look beyond what's in it for me concerning our country.

Vandeven and Bill offer a choice. They may not win, but I think it is time we quit supporting the lesser of two evils.

And as long as I am veering off subject of the thread, let say me say I don't believe for a minute that Bill and Vandeven are in this race to get face time as colateral to run for a lesser office as our esteemed college professor opines.

  • If people then had known the present situation would be the way things would turn out, most everyone would have been Tories and remained Loyalists.

  • His argument is not new. It has been expressed before that ballot boxes and ammo boxes are the means to enact change. In essence what he says is that, failing to win change through the ballots, bullets remain the only viable option.

I'm amazed that so many on here who argue that our votes are meaningless, that both parties are the same, that corporations and/or secretive international groups control our nation, and that our nation is headed for economic collapse are shocked at the logical extension of that line of thinking. If you want change and you don't believe ballots can achieve it, what alternative do you propose?

Mr. Broden is on the ballot, which indicates that he has not given up on the idea of ballots over bullets. Nor, I believe, has he suggested that his own defeat will lead to bloodshed. All he has said is that, if we cannot succeed in electing competent people to office, violence may be the only option left 'on the table'.

I say again: this is not a new argument. If you really believe that your vote is meaningless, and yet you willingly accept the leadership you claim is being selected for you by powerful interests meeting in smoke-filled rooms, then you surely qualify as one of the 'sheeple' you claim to be smarter than.

I haven't given up on the ballot box. I believe we can still turn things around, but it's going to require the election of some 'radical' people who are willing to say and do unpleasant things. The alternative is 'go along to get along' governnance in which we allow the natural progression of expanding governmental power to overwhelm us.

  • It is something maybe the French got right...

if you put aside the ideals the people are fighting for there & rioting for, and see the action/reponse you will see something we do not have here...

The government in France is afraid of its people... so the people get want they want, be it 36 vacation days, or lower taxes.

Now I do not think we should go torch businesses and over turn cars but maybe we should start thinking of how to make our government fear us again and not the other way around.

Unfortunately Shapley, this is what a significant portion of the people of this country (and this forum) want.

  • So I guess that means you will join in this violent revolution when the bullets start flying? How brave of you.

It's not there yet but in the case of socialism I will. Some people have a set. Others are sheep.

    .............................................................

    Shape

I have to vote for the one that can beat the Democrat. The legislation and burdens the Democrats are throwing on businesses is killing them.

If things don't change I will have to sell out and retire leaving some responsible, loyal, and high paid men unemployed. Our plans were to sell them the businesses next year but with the current administration's policies that may be an impossibility.

I am one of the people that will no longer risk their capital because it is too risky. My plans as of now is to fold em'. I can't take a chance losing my retirement.

  • _Regret_

I understand. However, if the elections fail, or those elected fail us, what then? Your retirement will be worth little if the dollar collapses.

  • You're absolutly right Shape. If I voted for Vand. and Emerson lost I would be giving Obama another ruber stamp.
