Speak Out: IF YOU KNEW THAT JO ANN EMERSON & HER HUSBAND GAVE $5,000 TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN, WOULD YOU VOTE FOR REPUBLICAN BOB PAKER, INSTEAD OF THE TEAM OF EMERSON-GLADNEY ?

If that is proven true, she has surely lost my vote.

  • I would vote for Obama himself before I voted for Bob Parker...

  • Sorry, not enough proof. Just because you wrote it doesn't mean its true.

  • When choosing for whom to vote it's always best to choose the patriot. If a patriot is not one of the choices then one should choose the candidate that has exhibited a frame of mind similar to the person voting. Emerson has a conservative voting record. So, if you're a conservative, then Congressman Emerson is a palpable choice. All this talk of campaign contributions is a distraction, which is a typical manuever by those who don't wish to discuss the salient issues.

  • And for all your ramblings, the sheep will still re-elect her by a 67%-33% margin.

  • I want to know why these facts and figures were not posted "before" the last election? --- Looks like the voters only find out things like this after it's toooooooo late.

    -- Posted by semo85 on Tue, Jul 6, 2010, at 8:18 AM
  • Mr. Adam, thank you for the challenge. I went to the website and looked at what you were saying. semo85, I also want to know why these things were not told before the elections? Missourian writers, this other paper had the facts. why didn't you?

  • because most people turn the other cheek to their morals and beliefs if it benefits them in some way. And sadly far to often there is no consequences.

  • I doubt it!!

  • Jo Ann Emerson's husband is a Democrat, Jo Ann is a Republican. Don't know why that is so hard to figure out.

Jo Ann has spent yeras building the Republican Party in Southern Missouri. She recruits candidates for the state legislature and helps them win. Jo Ann Emerson and her political team are responsible for helping trun Southern Missouri from a Democratic area to a Republican area.

Jo Ann's husband donated $2,300 to Obama in the primary election and $2,300 to Obama in the general election. That comes to $4,600.

These blogs are scary because everyone thinks they are an expert and they spread lies.

  • I guess in a way, the SE Missourian has looked into it - by supporting an open comments section and allowing folks to mull over just about any topic they choose. I've stared at this one for a while trying to figure out what the point is. Many folks supported Obama - heck, he was elected President of the United States. Many people donate to campaigns for many reasons - their own personal reasons. Kudos to Jo Ann Emerson and her family for participating in the process. I guess 'ol LA gets kudos for the same. I imagine in this day and age the lesson is not to let the media make your decisions for you - you may end up disappointed. Of course, you have to blame somebody.

  • yes!

  • mofreedom: You are correct when you say she is responsible for turning southeast Missouri into what is is today. It has gone from the 14th poorest district out of 435 in the nation to the 8th poorest. It has the lowest median wage for females in the NATION! Let's see her run on those stats. Give me a break when you claim she has done good things for the 8th district. I know of a prominent farmer west of Cape who has been a JAE supporter for years who now says it is time for her to go. Her base is dwindling right before her eyes.

-- Posted by howdydoody on Tue, Jul 6, 2010, at 11:21 AM
  • Yeah I figured all this in my calculations. She will only get 67% in this election instead of her usual 71-72% of the vote.
