Speak Out: November elections

Posted by Skeptic1 on Thu, Jun 10, 2010, at 6:53 AM:

Good bye sitting senators! Well, that is the nicest thing I can say to them. People are so disgusted with the current bunch in Washington that they just elected this guy to the primary:

And if this is what is representing the democrats all I can say is heeheeeheeehee hahaha

  • The supposed anti-incumbancy movement is dead.

Calif. - 52 incumbants ran in the primaries, all 52 won.

New Jersey - 13 incumbants ran, all 13 won.

Virginia - 7 incumbants ran, all won.

Iowa - 2 incumbants ran, both won.

Numerous states with only 1 incumbant, all won.

Supposedly only 5 incumbants across the nation lost, 2 of whom had switched parties, and 2 of whom are involved in scandals.

Of course this came from MSNBC, so take it for what it is worth.

Looks to me like come November there will be no change in the current government.

PS... One of you English majors may need to correct my spelling of incumbants, it doesn't look right.

  • DTower,

In order for me to get on the ballot in the 8th District, I have to talk face-to-face with registered voters. "We need to clean house up there in Washington, no matter the party...." is a common refrain.

Around 75% of the voters I talk to end up signing. I give much credit for such a high signing rate to Missouri's sense of fair play; but in my anecdotal experience, there is a general distrust of any Washington office holder (incumbent) right now.

    Thanks,

Larry Bill, Independent Conservative Candidate for Congress, 8th District, Missouri

I agree we need to clean house in Wash DC. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the rest of the people of this nation feel the same.

  • Vulcan2004,

Obama did get Blanche-Lincoln through her primary. He needed Bill Clinton to carry his water to do it. Outside the state Union organizers opposed Obama's pick and nearly beat him.

They say the Republican party is experiencing in-fighting, but did you see Nancy Pelosi's speech where far-left advocates threw food at her?

  • Spaniard I can not wait to say I TOLD YOU SO in November.

  • My only fear is so many people benefiting from "entitlements" that they can't be weaned from the government sugar titty.

  • Ike,

I think if the goverment sends back to Voyager what he paid in plus compounded interest and less what he has received, he would get out of the program in a heartbeat. I know I would.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Thu, Jun 10, 2010, at 3:39 PM
  • Exactly Ike. We are all mandated that we pay a total of about 15% of our pay into the program. So the only way to get your money back is to play the game. Pure Socialistic BS, but we are left no choice, other than to leave the money there for the crooks in Washington to buy votes with.

  • To leave more for you Ike, you greedy little worm? It is not going to happen count on it. My money, and I want some of it back, and I didn't mark the bills so I didn't expect to get the same ones back.

And I am shocked the money I sent in is gone Ike, wasn't it Al Gore who was going to keep it in a "Lock Box" for me?

You mark Paid In with quotes. Yes Ike, I paid it in. I was self employed most of my working years, I signed the checks and watched the amount they took every week from me and my employees. You would have a little more appreciation for the amount of money it takes to support your Socialistic Dreamland if you were ever in a position of making a payroll. It is a huge responisbility!

  • Spaniard, I know some one who doesn't use medicare. Not taking a stand, just a matter of pride. He also refuses to take social security for now. Says he may have to swallow his pride if the new laws mess up his present private insurance.

What do you predict regarding this?

-- Posted by Old John on Thu, Jun 10, 2010, at 9:22 PM
  • Ike,

I thought I had explained my poition in such a way that even someone as closed mind as you could understand.

    Guess not!

  • Spank,

Good explanation. May I add, that in addition to boxes 4 & 6 the employer contributes a like amount, which could also be put in your pocket.

The politicians may call social security and medicare entitlement, and those who paid into them are damned well entitled to a return on their investment.

Your example are the true entitlements, ginned up over the years to buy votes.

Don't look for a lot of intelligence from Ike, he doesn't see a lot of sunshine in his parent's basement. He is kind of like a mushroom.

  • Go back to vegitating Ike.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 9:54 AM
  • Spaniard, Are you a socialist?

-- Posted by Old John on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 10:02 AM
  • Old John,

If you do not get an answer from Ike on that, just ask me the question, I think I can answer it.

  • Rick

    4 - 13 - 28 - 3 and the power ball is 7.

Don't bet the farm on it though, cause I am not guaranteeing to cover any losses. ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

  • Spaniard, Fair enough. I like the Sunday Socials.

-- Posted by Old John on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 12:08 PM
  • Wheels, you're making a huge mistake assuming that Ike knows what a "payroll" is. He thinks its a "benefit."

-- Posted by voyager on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 12:24 PM
  • Voyager,

Maybe in his case it is.

  • IMHO , Spaniard is a certified OW...

-- Posted by *Rick* on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 3:03 PM

A certified what?? I'm sure I would agree but I have trouble with deciphering acronymns and initials.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 3:17 PM
  • Aaah, now I get it. ☺ ☺

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, Jun 11, 2010, at 3:21 PM
  • Forget the OW, Rick, how about just "Certifiable!" On the other hand he's kinda fun to have to kick around from time to time.
